Damascus is famous for its one-of-a-kind barazek that are sold usually only in boxes along with other renowned foods. They are also created from butter (or ghee), flour, sugar, milk, and mahleb brown sugar together with cinnamon-like ghee. The dough is then coated with honey syrup, sesame seeds, and pistachios.
